Frustrating as some super affiliates are making fortunes – but most
mortals are struggling to make a reasonable living. Of course, most
of those emails should get junked and
SpamCop informed of the sender. In the end you question whom you
should believe. Well here are some tips to find the affiliate
schemes that will provide a reasonable stream of income.
There are many sites that list the many affiliate schemes – such as
Refer-it.com, and
AssociatePrograms.com. They offer reviews and ranking systems to
help choose the appropriate schemes. After selecting the Affiliates
you want to work with, start incorporating text links, banners and
interactive links that the Affiliate sites will provide you with. I
assume you have checked that the Affiliate is well established, is
not going belly up, and pays its affiliates! If in doubt, use the
Services of
Commission Junction or
LinkShare, who have a vast choice of pre-screened affiliate
programs.
How do you improve your chances of getting sales? First, weave your
affiliate links into pages that are relevant on your web site. The
most effective response is where the link is worked into the text on
your page. A personal recommendation is particularly effective at
getting the user to click. Remember to only pre-sell to the user -
do not try to sell off the page! All you are trying to do is get the
user to click to the Affiliate site who will do all the selling for
you. So part of your affiliate analysis you should be doing is
looking at the Affiliate Partner site pages. Would you buy? Are they
compulsive? Do they use autoresponders to send sales messages over a
period of time? If not, perhaps you should be looking for a better
affiliate.
A most effective marketing method is using mini-sites for your
“affiliate products” – one or two pages sites that are very
targeted. They are much easier to promote, and get better rankings
in the search engines. Experts recommend having a “gateway” site
with links to all your mini-sites. Make sure you link well between
sites, and not only will this help in Search Engine rankings but
also cross-selling across your sites.
What works for me? Well here is the killer tip! Go to
ClickBank.com – they have an affiliate market-place that ranks
sites in order of income. You need to become a member –
click here to become a member. Then look at the affiliate
program details for affiliates in different categories. Choose top
income generators from suitable categories – I guarantee that they
work. ClickBank sends you emails whenever you make a sale. Now the
beauty of this system is – you do not even need a web site! Go to
your favourite PPC engine – Overture.com,
7Search.com, FindWhat.com and bid for some keywords, and put the
ClickBank link as the url – it will be in the form
http://hop.clickbank.net/?your-id.vendor-id. So the link in the
PPC search engine will go directly to your Affiliate partner site
and you will be accredited with any sales that result. We have

Finally after you start signing up for the various affiliate
schemes, you will find that most programs are two-tier (or better).
This means that you can also promote your chosen affiliates programs
to other marketers. Users who sign up from your links to your
